Great For The Price!
I bought a used one prior to the one I have now and it did not seem to fly properly. The controls were delayed and would not respond immediately when a control change was made so I sent it back. I got another used Typhoon 4k Q500 drone and it worked great. I use it for my music videos, weddings, TV Shows, and Short films. This thing is durable to say the least. I have crashed it into the house twice so I recommend the propeller guards if you are not used to flying this drone near structures. It seems to be made to solid and the parts are easy to get all you have to do is Google it. There are plenty of part suppliers including B & H as one of them. I suggest getting the dual charger and a second battery. The pendant is awesome and has plenty of controls. The best thing I love about this drone is that I don't have to tie up my phone or tablet in order to fly it. It comes with a tablet built into the transmitter ST10+ and makes things way easier. When you turn it on it just works and you don't have to spend time trying to get your phone or tablet out and then trying to get it connected. You turn on the switch for the pendant and the drone and it does all the work for you. The thing I dislike the most about the drone is that the pendant works on WiFi and also the drone tends to drift it's position more so if it is lower to the ground as oppose to being in the air higher up. Closer to the ground it does not hold its position as well as when you send it up in the sky. It REALLY seems like Wizardry!
I purchased this as an alternate controller for the Yuneec Q500 4K. Your first step: Go online and download the instructions! The controller requires that you calibrate it (spoiler alert- you twist it around in figure eights while you rotate counter clockwise at eight increments). Put the bird in bind mode-turn it on, then tilt it nose down two times(light goes flashing orange sort of color)Then you must bind it, holding the down button and the power button, blue light comes on, keep holding until it turns back off. Turn it on again, and fly! It has all three modes on the side, including the beginners SMART mode, and return to home. The action it takes depends on whether you hold it horizontal or vertical. Watch the videos on youtube so you understand this well before taking to the sky! It comes with a water RESISTANT arm case for using the watch me mode while kiteboarding. You can also use it to point in the sky to a location you want it to fly to. Be aware, the wizard has a shorter range than your full controller, but is loads of fun. It's a bit bulky, compared to other drones in its class, but flies well, even in wind and takes good video. Traveling with it as carry on was a hastle with huge remote, as it apparently counts as large electronics by itself (just the remote). Works well. Does what it should. One More Good Reason To Buy A Q500
The FOLLOW ME feature isn't exclusive. The LOOK AT ME feature is unique to only a small group of brands. The Wizard,on the other hand,is a real game changer. This technology puts the UNFRIENDLY folks at DJI at a definite disadvantage. You can control the YUNEEC almost completely without the unwieldy, big fat, remote. The Follow Me feature wasn't particularly practice before. Try riding a bike carrying a bag of sugar. The Typhoon Wizard Drone Controller is the size of a SMALL TV remote. The wizard fits in a shirt pocket of can be warn on the upper arm using the provided holder. You can totally fly the Q500, including Follow Me and Watch Me (this feature keeps you in the center of the shot as the Q500 follows you). You can't turn the camera on/off with the Wizard . You turn the camera on/off with a Smart Phone or with the transmitter. The Wizard has a 700+ yard range. I really like this add on to an already sophisticated system. Nice Quad, Nice Price, Super Useful Tool!
Oh man, I love this thing, just wish I had more time to use it. I've had it for awhile now, and it never gets old. So freakin useful for scouting my property, and initially was perfect for examining a potential conflict relating to property line boundaries, neighbors, and fences. But really it's just plain fun to fly, especially once you get some practice and aren't so afraid of crashing the thing (even though it really wasn't very expensive), so what's the biggy(?) JK ;-) I recommend getting a simulator like the one that's cheap and simple from the Yuneec website, to practice before flying to establish familiarity with the controls, or to stay in practice when you don't want to actually fly it, like in some of the nasty weather we get here in the Cascade foothills. Great valule great drone
I am very impressed with the camera and video quality of both the aircraft and hand held device, The aircraft flies and responds well but is much slower than my Phantom 4 advanced and my Autel X Star Premium and thats ok since great quality video is not dependent on high speeds and this drone will give you great video.
