The Messermeister Magnetic Knife Block is an innovative and truly beautiful knife block that artistically showcases fine cutlery unlike any other knife block. While traditional blocks store knives in slots, the Messermeister Magnetic Knife Block securely holds knives on its exterior in a beautiful fan-like shape. Different knives are easily identified, so you will reach for the correct blade for the specific task.
Shaped at 90º, the inside of the solid wood block consists of strong magnets that securely hold up to 10 knives, 5 on each side. It can also hold steels and scissors. The dimensions are as follows 10"w x 10"h x 3"d.

This magnetic knife block looks amazing, but when it comes to functionality it comes out flat. The block itself is not heavy enough and moves around when sticking / removing knives from the side which makes it dangerous to use. The magnets with in do not run through the entire edge of the block but instead have been placed far apart which then pulls the knives to particular spots on the block. This means you have no control where a knife sits on the block as it moves to the spot it wants when you stick it resulting in danger and not being able to properly put knives where you want. Lastly, as you would expect from a block like this, it scratches the sides of your knives up. Overall, I would not repurchase this particular block until they fix the weight issues and run magnets in a constant pattern so that knives may be stuck wherever I place them.

While i love the appearance and the magnets are strong, I have a lot of knives and really needed more magnet stations. I added 2 magnets to the back for my cleaver. I really needed a bit more height (1/2') because my slicing yanagiba and kiritsuke are too long at 9 1/2". I will add a 'foot' to the which will also allow it to slide on the countertop. The wood is beautiful though.

I purchased this rack for my son's girlfriend who is a sous-chef in a small restaurant. I received one several years ago from my eldest son and his wife. I loved it. They had stayed with us for a while and used it, so I knew she liked it. When she asked for a knife rack for Christmas, I knew which one to get her. The attached picture is of my rack which is several years old. The one I just purchased is wrapped for Christmas. I wanted to show that the rack easily holds 10 knives. It's easy to clean. Easy to use. The only problem I've had with the company has been with the order processing dept. They entered my name as the recipient with my son's address. They never notified me when the package was shipped. These two things caused over a week's delay in tracking down what happened to the package and finally getting it delivered.

Just gorgeous! We needed something that would fit on our counter and still enable us to pull out knives without hitting the base of the cabinets hanging above them. The wedge shape is perfect and everyone comments on how beautiful it looks. We also have a strange collection of cooking knives and the fact that they don't have to fit into specifically-sized holes is great. Shipping was fast and quality is top notch!

If I could give this knife block a 4.5 rating, I would. It is very sturdy with beautiful grain in the wood. Holds 10 knives easily. The only thing I would do to improve it is to make the magnets larger, particularly for the smaller knives. It's a little tricky to get all the knives to stand the way you see them in the photo. I plan to get one for a gift for our son.

Looks nice. However, each side is only partially magnetized. Only certain places have the magnets, so the knives must be exactly in the right place or they slide down. It is frustrating. The entire side should be magnetized for a superior product. Would be willing to pay more for better magnetization.
