Q: I ordered two of these online and picked them up in store. Unrolled one and it smelled awful, and it's not just because of the recycled rubber. How do you get rid of the bad smell?

The smell you are likely experiencing is the rug 'off gassing' after being wrapped and stored in plastic for a period of time. The smell is not harmful and will dissipate on its own in a few days. Q: Is this flammable? Have entry door with electric wall register to right, 6 in up. Mat would sit under doorway and extend a couple feet under heat register which runs all winter. Safe?

While the Gateway Utility Doormat has been tested for flammability and exceeds all requirements, we cannot make a guarantee whether this item would be safe if exposed to an electric register for an extended period of time. Our testing hasn’t been performed in such a manner to say with certainty if this is safe.

A: Hello, Thank you for reaching out! This mat is water resistant, however if it gets wet to clean simply shake off dirt, occasionally rinse with a garden hose and air dry.

This rug was the perfect size for our entry way. It's also durable and the rubber backing keeps it firmly in place. Great quality for the price. It had a slight rubber smell, but we've had it for 3 days now and the smell has disappeared. Highly recommend this product!

This mat stinks and makes the entire entry way smell like industrial rubber The grooves in the pattern make cleaning impossible dirt & everything else get stuck in it and you can’t vacuum it out due to the deep grooves and Velcro type material.

The size of this rug is perfect for my front entryway and ensures that you can step inside and around the door while staying on the mat! Looking forward to the durability of this rug through the upcoming wet PNW winter. The only negative, I have had it for three weeks and the chemical odor from the rug is still very strong.

We have a split level house and wanted something for the entryway so we weren’t tracking in wet shoes. Unfortunately we aren’t recommending this item to anyone and it will probably get “demoted” to the garage. It’s absolutely useless in catching mud/water/etc from shoes and quite honestly is not worth the money.

It does come with a smell but one day outside and it was gone! Lays flat right away and doesn’t slide. The grooves in it are deep, to catch the dirt, but that makes it uncomfortable to walk barefoot/socks on. If you have a crawling baby at home, they may not like that! Overall, a great purchase for the price!
