A: Yes, you can. In order to run it you have to press down on the edge of the lid, so you can control how small you want the pieces. It won’t shred the cabbage though

I’ve had other mini processors before that were easier to operate. I’ve always been satisfied with Kitchen Aid products before; this one’s operation design needs some fine tuning.

I've had my food processor for ~1 year and after it's most recent run through the dishwasher the basin came out warped. Why can't you buy a replacement basin for this model? It seem ridiculous and extremely wasteful to throw away the entire base of the food processor just because the basin is warped.
