Just days after Raynor Winn learns that Moth, her husband of 32 years, is terminally ill, their home is taken away and they lose their livelihood. With nothing left and little time, they make the brave and impulsive decision to walk the 630 miles of the sea-swept South West Coast Path.

I'm always looking for something different and the Salt Path came along. I'm in awe of what this couple achieved. All that remains is for the teenagers to read it. They might just learn something about humanity.

This was a great story in terms of how humans can prevail when all you know is taken away. Certainly made me want to do a bit of walking! The only downside is that I found it a little slow and repetitive. Walking every day has its limitations when it comes to story however the compassion that I felt for the couple was immense. What they achieved was incredibly inspiring. Would appeal to anyone who has done some walking along the salt path.

This wasn't a book I typically would be drawn to, but thanks to my fellow book club members for choosing it, once started it was nearly impossible to put down. Raynor Winn is an excellent writer ... so much so that I could feel the rain pelting against my skin, the wind moving me forward with no help from my feet and smell the sea as the tides ebbed and flowed. I could taste those lovely pasties and the luscious ice creams.

A truly beautifully written memoir of a couple who understands the word commitment. The love Ray and Moth have for one another is nothing short of inspiring.

It's the kind of book that leaves you thinking 'I could do that'.
While I enjoyed the book, and was fascinated to read about the experiences of the couple (hence 4 stars) I constantly found myself feeling that the book was 'forced'. The author has obviously read 'Wild' by Cheryl Strayed, but did not mention it at all, probably because although the central character (Strayed) is less likable, she is a better writer than Raynor Winn and tells her story in a more natural way.
